The Fall Of Linda Ikeji's Blog

By Jesse Adeniji

People need to realize Linda Ikeji is not the victim. It is the people whose work she has been feeding fat on. And she had massive economic benefit over the period of 10 years she could have been fair.

1. It's over 10 years. Mistakes cannot be forgiven. She's grown from making nothing to making 1 million dollars a year. In that time, a serious human would have employed writers, hired consultants to look at her structure, and keep it within the law. Failure to do that is down to a nature which enjoys crime.

2. Getting a consultant would have helped with one thing. A free blogging platform is only OK when you aren't making money. Once you are, you need to build your own infrastructure. Building a website from scratch, buying your own domain name and being in control of your own platform when you run a proper business. Staying there, with her data at the mercy of the platform, it only shows she has no entrepreneurial acumen.

3. You do not build a reputation on cheating ans stealing. Many of the other bloggers whose works were being used without permission DID NOT EVEN ASK HER FOR MONETARY REWARDS. They only asked to be acknowledged.
How do we rate a so called 'rags to riches' who is prepared to slate the humanity of others on the say so of her egomaniac self? Heartless.

4. Flaunting the wealth gotten from scamming off other people's intellectual property, is obscene, reprehensible and indecent. If she puts up lewd and sleazy stories of other Nigerians raping the system to live like Emperor Bokassa and Mobutu Sese Seko, she should have enough sense not to become them.

Google only took her blogsite down, she could still set up a proper website and continue her practice. But what is obvious now is, every of her misdeed will be contested in the law courts and courts of public opinion. THE OTHER BLOGGERS ARE NOW AWARE OF THEIR ECONOMIC RIGHTS.

I only hope her treatment goes all the way to other areas of life in Nigeria. The economy will be better for it. The real guys with the real ideas who have been pushed under and made poor by the theft of their intellectual properties by the likes of Linda Ikeji, will rise and give us a proper narrative.

Linda is NOT the victim. The victims are the countless who labour to produce original content and are denied their rewards by Linda Ikeji. We should be clear about that
